A father of four in Akwakuma, Owerri North Council Area of Imo State were thrown in grief after the murder of a stonemason by his wife.
Raymond Ihugba, 50, was killed by his wife, Augustina after a misunderstanding ensued between them.
PUNCH Metro reports, that the victim is said to be a stonemason, and his remains have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre mortuary in Owerri, while the erring suspect has fled the community.
While speaking to a correspondent, the mother of the deceased, Mrs. Eunice Ihugba, said that trouble started between Raymond and Augustina because the latter was always making a high financial demand from him despite his lean resources.
The deceased mother, Eunice Ihugba disclosed that Raymond had always pleaded with his wife to bear the situation but she refuses at all time.
At the time of the incident the suspect, Augustina was reportedly in possession of an acid which she used to attack her husband on site at Ubomiri.
“My efforts and those of Augustina’s relations to arrest the ugly situation proved abortive.”
“Augustina poured the acid on him, set him ablaze and ran into hiding. Raymond was rushed to the Emergency Ward of the FMC, Owerri, from where he was transferred to the ward 10 of the hospital where he eventually gave up the ghost,”
Eunice added that the Augustina usually steal her husband’s money due to her flamboyant lifestyle.
The traditional ruler of the community, Eze Charles Osuji, confirmed the incident and describing it as an abomination, and assured that efforts would be made to apprehend the fleeing suspect and brought to book.
