A teenager was found lifeless in a hotel’s walk-in freezer, hours after she laeft her friend’s party, police says.
As reported by the Sun UK, the 19-year-old lady, Kenneka Jenkins was found dead at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rosemont, a suburb northwest of Chicago in the early hours of Sunday morning.
She texted her sister from her phone around 1.30am on Saturday at about same time she was seen on the ninth floor.
She was reported missing in the afternoon by her friends after they could not find her.
Her mum, Teresa Martin, while quoting the Polica said Jenkins had let herself into the freezer while drunk, and died inside.
The victims mother questioned the claim, insisting her would have struggled to open the freezer door if she was drunk.
“Those were double steel doors, she didn’t just pop them open.”
AN autopsy has been perfomed and the outcome hasn’t been clear if her death were subjected to foul.
Responding to the incident, the hotel told ABC7 Chicago: “The Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel and Conference Centre holds the safety, security and well-being of our guests and employees as our top priority and concern.
“We are saddened by this news, and our thoughts are with the young woman and her family during this difficult time.
“The hotel staff will continue to operate fully with local authorities.
“All further questions should be directed to the Rosemont Police Department.”
