Secondary leak appears to confirm Samsung Galaxy S8 Active specs and features

Earlier this week, a Redditor and purported friend of a Samsung employee managed to get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, the ruggedized version of the company’s flagship Android smartphone. Many details of the handset were shared with those keen to learn more, including several images and a video that revealed the device’s IMEI number which was subsequently taken offline.

Now, another source who posted on Weibo has seemingly confirmed the specifications of the Galaxy S8 Active which have been listed in a number of Samsung-branded slides. Matching headline specs include the Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB RAM, 64GB onboard storage, 4,000mAh battery, plus 8MP and 12MP front and rear cameras. It also became known that the device featured a Bixby button although the feature itself appeared to be disabled.

However, there are some finer details that weren’t shared in the earlier report which will help round out the full technical capabilities of the device, which include:

Display: 5.8-inch Super AMOLED, 2960 x 1440px, Gorilla Glass 5

Dimensions: 5.99 x 2.95 x 0.39 inches

Weight: 7.34 oz

In addition to the above, it has also been revealed that the Galaxy S8 Active will be available in a choice of two colors, Meteor Gray and Titanium Gold. Furthermore, those that are concerned with camera performance should be pleased that the Active’s capabilities line up with the Galaxy S8 in terms of both front and rear camera apertures of f1.7 and the inclusion of autofocus with the selfie shooter.

While Samsung has still yet to officially out its latest toughened handset, there appears little else for the company to actually unveil or announce before it’s hinted launch next month, aside from pricing.
