Angry Birds maker Rovio valued at $1 billion in IPO

Am sure you would have played it or have your child wanting to play the game on your smartphone. You must have even seen the movie Angry Birds

Rovio Entertainment, the marker, and parent company of one of the most played smartphone game Angry Birds is getting ready to go public on the Helsinki Nasdaq in two weeks. As Rovio Entertainment set the price range for an Initial public offering (IPO) that would value the company at about $1 billion, a lot less than the more than $2 billion they were said to be hoping for.

The Angry Birds game has had over 3.7 billion downloads since its first launch in 2009. Rovio Entertainment which came up with the movie version of the game last year “The Angry Birds Movie”.

The company has raised at least $42 million in equity funding from Accel, Atomico, Felicis Ventures and others.
